The Laboratory Services wing of FH provides diagnostic support to the clinicians round the clock. During medical emergencies, where time is a critical factor, the investigations are carried out on an urgent basis. Accurate and reproducible results are then flashed through the LAN. The speed with which results are obtained can sometimes make a difference between life and death.
The blood samples are collected using the vacutainer system of collection.
At Michael Diagnostics quality control and quality assurance are strictly implemented and authenticated by regular INTERNAL & EXTERNAL QUALITY CONTROL checks both at national and international levels.
The laboratory is actively involved in the infection control activities of the hospital. It is also involved in training nurses and paramedical students.
All the departments individually participate in the Internal and External Quality Assurance Services (EQAS).
The Laboratory has a team of doctors and technical staff to operate its sophisticated equipment. The machines are calibrated and a quality check is run daily, using internationally accepted methods and standards.
The lab conducts more than 300 tests every day and is equipped to carry out routine, as well as special investigations in the discipline of:
1. Biochemistry
2. Clinical Pathology
3. Haematology
4. Microbiology
5. Serology
6. Histopathology: Tissue biopsy and fetal autopsy. Fetal autopsy is particularly useful as one can identify the cause of fetal death and, if possible, take precautions for the next pregnancy.
7. Cytology:- Cancer screening and pap smear as well as testing for malignancy of any lump found on the body.
8. Special tests:- New born screening.
